About Dr. Tran

Dr. Tran brings over two decades of expertise as an emergency, family medicine, and long-term care (LTC) physician. A bedside ultrasound specialist, he has been teaching point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) for over 10 years. Dr. Tran serves as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto and holds a Master of Health Sciences (Education), an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, a CHE from the Canadian College of Health Leaders, and an ICD.D from the Institute of Corporate Directors. A dedicated educator, Dr. Tran is deeply committed to advancing the skills of healthcare providers.

What to Expect from POCUSMED Training

In the POCUSMED sessions, Dr. Tran and the Technomed team will deliver practical training in the use of point-of-care ultrasound by family physicians to further diagnostic accuracy and enhance their ability to care for patients. The course will outline the following essential topics, among others:

Application to Family Medicine and Long-Term Care: This session will discuss how POCUS can be applied to both family medicine and LTC settings to better improve patient outcomes.
Abdominal and Pelvic Indications: Train the ultrasound identification of gallbladder issues, abdominal aortic aneurysm, and bowel obstruction.
Cardiac Indications: Discuss cardiac topics like LVH, RVH, and cardiac effusion.
Soft Tissue Indications: Techniques of identification of various soft tissue conditions important to be diagnosed at the bedside.
